[초록]

 그동안 국내 대학(원)에 재학 중인 이공계 외국인 유학생 수가 꾸준히 증가하고 있으나 한국어 교육 분야에서 그들을 대상으로 한 연구물 수와 교재 수가 부족했다. 이에 2장에서는 이공계 외국인 유학생의 현황을 살펴봄으로써 이 학습자 군을 위한 연구 활성화와 교재 다양화의 필요성을 제기하였다. 선행 연구를 살펴본 결과 이공계 외국인 유학생의 한국어 학습 상황을 본격적으로 고찰한 연구는 2008년부터 시작되었다. 따라서 3장에서는 연도별, 유형별, 방법별, 대상별, 주제별로 2008년 이래 한국어 교육 분야에서 발표된 이공계 외국인 유학생 관련 연구 총 42편을 분석하여 그 동향을 파악하였다. 4장에서는 교수학습 상황, 교육과정, 교수 방법 세 가지 차원에서 2008년 이후 출판된 이공계 외국인 유학생 전용 한국어 교재 총 6권을 분석하였다. 동향 분석과 교재 분석의 결과를 바탕으로 향후 이공계 외국인 유학생을 위한 연구 수행과 교재 편찬의 방향에 대해 제언하였다.

 This study aims to provide direction for future research and textbook development in Korean language education for science and engineering students by examining research trends and analyzing Korean language textbooks developed for the target group. Although the number of international students studying science and engineering in Korean universities has steadily increased, the number of research studies and textbooks tailored to their needs has been insufficient. Thus, Chapter 2 highlights the need to enhance research and diversify textbooks for this specific learner group by examining the current status of international students in science and engineering. Studies specifically investigating the Korean language learning by international students studying science and engineering began in 2008. Therefore, Chapter 3 analyzes 42 research papers published since 2008 related to international students in science and engineering undertaking Korean language education. These papers were analyzed in terms of year, type, method, target, and topic to identify trends. Chapter 4 analyzes six Korean language textbooks published since 2008, for international students in science and engineering with respect to teaching and learning situations, curriculum, and teaching methods. Based on the results of trend and textbook analysis, this study suggests directions for future research and textbook development in Korean language education for international students in science and engineering.
