[초록]
본 연구는 국내 지방에있는 한 사립대학교에서 중국인 대학원 유학생 48명을 대상으로 진행되었고, 혼합연구 방법을 사용하였다. 연구의 목적은 중국인 유학생이 EMI 수업을 수강한 후, 1) 본인의 전공 지식 학습 정도, 2) 본인의 영어 실력변화, 그리고 3) EMI 수업에 대한 만족도를 조사하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, EMI 수업은 중국인 유학생의 해당 전공지식 학습에긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, EMI 수업은 중국인 유학생의 영어 실력에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 중국인 유학생들은 EMI 수업이 아주 효과적이라고 평가하였고, EMI 수업에 대해서 전반적으로 만족감을 나타냈다. 연구결과에 따라 다음과 같은 시사점을 제안하고자 한다. 첫째, 한국어 수준이 낮은 외국인 유학생에게다양한 영어매개강의를 제공하는 것이 외국인 유학생 수업관리에 도움이 될 수 있다. 둘째, EMI 수업을 강의하는 교수자에게 영어매개수업에 대한 전문적인 교육과 연수 기회를 제공해야 효과적인 수업이 될 수 있다. 셋째, EMI 수업 시간에학습자의 모국어 사용을 허가하여 수업이 진행되면 더욱 의미있는 EMI 수업이 될 수 있다.
The study was conducted with international graduate students at a private university, and implemented a mixed research method to explore the experience and satisfaction of Chinese international students in EMI classes. The results are as follows. First, EMI classes positively affected most of the learning by international students. Second, EMI classes positively affected improvement in international students' English proficiency. Third, students considered EMI classes very effective and were generally satisfied with them. According to the study results, the following implications are suggested. First, various English-mediated lectures should be provided to international students with low proficiency in Korean. Second, professional training opportunities should be provided to university instructors who teach EMI classes. Third, a student's native language must be permitted during EMI class time in order to implement EMI courses effectively.
