외국인 유학생을 대상으로 한 문학교육은 주로 한국어 교육에 방점이 있었다. 그러나 문학교육은 한국어 교육뿐만 아니라 사회문화교육을 동시에 수행할 수 있다. 본고에서는 이 점에 중점을 두고 학부 외국인 유학생을 대상으로 하는 문학 수업에서 현대시 교육 방법에 대해 고찰하였다.
수업 대상 텍스트는 보편성과 한국적 특수성을 고려하여 역사가 반영된 텍스트 즉역사성을 가진 텍스트가 적합하다고 판단하여 김수영의 시 ｢어느 날 고궁을 나오면서｣ (1965)를 선정하였다. 이 시는 1960년 4.19혁명 이후 1960년대의 역사, 사회, 정치 문화를 알 수 있는 텍스트로 한국인의 정신문화와 정서를 이해하는 데 강점이 있다. 이를 통해 문화적 문식성을 습득할 수 있다. 또한 주요 시어(자유, 가시밭, 절정)의 비교 분석을 통해 언어가 사전적 의미만이 아닌 사회적·문화적 의미를 포함할 수 있다는 것을알 수 있게 하였다.
또한 텍스트를 자기화하는 방법으로 패러디 글쓰기 제시하였다. ｢어느 날 고궁을 나오면서｣는 사회적 자아와 개인적 자아의 갈등을 잘 보여주는 텍스트다. 이를 학습자에게 적용시켜 세계와 자신에 대한 성찰의 결과를 문학화하도록 하였다. 이렇게 설계된교육 방법의 실제 운영 사례를 제시하였다. 그 결과 학습자들의 문학능력을 신장시키고 동시에 창조적 글쓰기의 효과를 기대할 수 있음을 확인하였다.
Literature education for foreigners used to focus mainly on teaching the Korean language. However, literature education can provide not only Korean language education but also social and cultural education at the same time. This paper focuses on this point and examines how to teach contemporary poetry in literature classes for foreign students in undergraduate program.
Considering universality and Korean specificity, a text that reflects history, in other words, a text with a sense of history, is appropriate for the class. Accordingly, “One Day Leaving the Old Palace” (1965), a poem by Kim Su-young, was selected. This poem is a text that reveals the historical, social, and political culture of the 1960s after the 4.19 Revolution in 1960, and has strengths in understanding the moral culture and sentiments of Koreans. Through this, cultural literacy can further be developed. In addition, a comparative analysis of the major poetic languages (liberty, thorny, climax) allows us to see that language can include social and cultural meanings as well as dictionary meanings.
Parody writing was suggested as a way to personalize the text. “One Day Leaving the Old Palace” is a text that clearly illustrates the conflict between the social self and the personal self. By applying this to learners, the results from reflection of the world and of oneself are translated into literature. By doing so, literary ability can be improved while the effect of creative writing is achieved at the same time.
