[초록]

 외국인 유학생 비율이 높은 학과의 현황, 교육과정 등을 살펴보았다. 그 결과 전담학과들은 대부분 지원 자격을 TOPIK 3급으로 규정하였고 전공 교과에 한국어 과목이 있는 학과들은 연구 대상의 절반 정도였으며 그 학과들은 대부분 한국어 관련 전공인 것으로 나타났다. 또한 학부제나 학과제로 운영되는 학과가 대다수였으나 유학생의 한국어 능력 향상, 한국 사회·문화 이해 도모, 대학 생활 적응을 돕기 위한 자유전공학부제를 도입한 학과도 존재하였다. 그러나 한국어 수업이 부족하고 체계화되어 있지 않으며 유학생 전담학과와 대학 부설 한국어 교육기관, 교양 대학의 학문 목적 한국어 과정의 역할이 중복됨을 지적하였다. 이에 전담학과를 자유전공학부로 개설하는 방안, 입학 기준에 따른 교수요목 구성과 한국어 수업 확보, 유학생 전담학과와 대학 부설 한국어 교육 기관, 교양 대학 학문 목적 한국어 교육과정의 연계를 방안으로 제시하였다.

 The operation status and curriculum of departments with a high proportion of foreign students were examined in detail. As a result, Most departments for foreign students defined the eligibility for university application as TOPIK level 3, and about half of the departments with Korean language subjects in their major subjects and those departments were related to Korean language education.In addition, most departments operated under the undergraduate or department system, but some departments operated a College of Liberal Studies to help foreign students improve their Korean language skills, promote understanding of Korean society and culture, and adapt to college life. However, it was pointed out that basic Korean classes and major Korean classes were insufficient, that Korean classes were insufficient and systematic, and that Korean language courses for academic purposes overlapped with departments for foreign students, university-affiliated Korean language education institutions, and liberal arts universities. Accordingly, it proposed a plan to open a departments for foreign students as a College of Liberal Studies, composition of teaching guidelines based on foreign admission standards and securing minimum Korean language class time, and linkage between a departments for foreign students and a university-affiliated Korean language education institution, and a Korean language curriculum for academic purposes.
