본 연구는 외국인 여성 유학생의 성폭력 안전 실태 및 지원서비스 이용분석을 통해 여성 유학생의 성폭력 피해 예방 및 지원을 위한 개선방안을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 한국에 유학비자를 통해 입국 후 3개월 이상 체류한 외국인 여성 유학생 410명을 대상으로 성폭력 피해 현황, 지원서비스에 대한 인식을 조사하였다. 조사결과, 유학기간 내 성폭력 피해 경험이 있는 여성 유학생은 47.3%이었으며, 이 중 80.3%가 중복피해를 경험하였다. 피해 유형은 성희롱, 성추행, 디지털 성폭력 순이었으며, 피해장소는 온라인, 모르는 곳, 일터 순으로 나타났다. 피해자들은 신체적 상해 및 우울을 경험하였으나, 피해자의 71.6%가 공식적 지원체계의 도움을 받지 못했다. 도움을 받은 피해자들도 지원의 실효성에 대한 부정적인 평가가 높게 나타났으며, 여성 유학생의 성폭력 피해지원체계 인지율은 37.3%에 불과하였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 외국인 여성 유학생의 성폭력 예방 및 피해 지원을 위한 정책적 개입의 필요성과 더불어, 여성 유학생의 안전을 위한 통합지원체계 구축, 피해 예방 및 지원 관련 정보 제공, 전문통역인 확보, 당사자 조직의 활성화, 인식 개선, 대학의 책임 강화를 과제로 제시하였다.
This study aims to present improvement strategies to prevent sexual violence toward female international students and support them through analyzing the current situations of sexual violence and the use of support services. A total of 410 foreign female international students who stayed in Korea for more than three months after entering the country through a study visa were surveyed on the status of sexual violence damage, awareness and use of support services, and policy demands. The results showed that 47.3% of female international students experienced sexual violence during their studies in Korea, and 80% of them experienced overlapping damage. The types of damage were sexual harassment, sexual molestation, and digital sexual assault in consecutive order, and the location of the violence appeared in the order of online, unknown places, workplace, and school. The victims also experienced physical injury or depression after the damage. A total of 71.6% of the victims did not receive support from the official support system. The recognition rate of female international students of the support system for victims of sexual violence was only 37.3%. Based on these results, a policy intervention to prevent sexual violence and support female international students was suggested.
