This study aims to provide an exploratory study of a mutual relationship between international students and Korea based on Hallyu content. In particular, we explored the process from foreigners’ first experience of Hallyu content to the decision-making on study abroad in Korea, and their relationships with Korea and Korean culture formed during their study abroad period. This qualitative study was conducted based on a series of in-depth interviews with 10 international students in Korea who have resided in Korea at least for six months. The result indicates that foreigners felt a sense of cultural affinity toward Korea based on Hallyu content first introduced by their family or friends. They became fascinated by K-pop and K-drama, as well as Korean culture and language, which triggered their decision-making on study abroad in Korea. During their study abroad, they served as mediators between Korea and their home countries, and wished to establish a long-term relationship with Korea.
 This study offers the theoretical and practical implications on international students, Hallyu content, and tourism in Korea.
