본 연구의 목적은 진로의사결정 관점에서 국내 대학을 졸업한 외국인 유학생의 국내 취업 동기와 국내 취업 과정 전반에 대해 탐구하는 것이다. 한국에서 유학과정을 마친 후 취업한 외국인을 연구참여자로 선정하였고 이들의 진로결정의 과정을 살펴보기 위해 Clandinin과 Connelly의 내러티브 탐구방법을 활용하여 연구참여자의 이야기를 심층적으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 취업 동기는 한국에 대한 강한 선호를 바탕으로 한국을 더 경험하며 성장하고자 하는 내재적 동기에 의해 영향을 받았고, 취업 경험은 미래에 대한 막막함에서 벗어나는 전략으로서의 진로 정보 탐색, 한국인 친구들의 지지로 촉진된 한국 체류 결심, 한국에서의 취업 목표 달성을 위한 적극적인 구직준비행동, 녹록치 않은 한국에서의 사회생활 적응 과정으로 나타났다. 이러한 취업 과정 속에서 부재했던 진로 교육 및 미흡한 외국인 유학생의 취업 지원의 현 상황을 성찰하고 이들의 전 생애관점에서의 진로 설계 체계의 필요성에 대한 시사점을 제시하였다.

The purpose of this study was to explore the job motivation and overall employment process of international students who graduated from universities and found employment in Korea. Through the purposive sampling, research participants had completed their degrees and received job offers in Korea. We analyzed our participant's narratives using Clandinin and Connelly's narrative inquiry approach. According to the results, the job motivation of international students in Korea was influenced by the intrinsic motivation to further establish themselves in Korea with a preference for the Korean language and culture. In addition, their career experiences have been characterized by active job searching and career preparation, support from a small number of Koreans, and challenging moments in Korean corporate culture. This study is helpful to understand the career decision-making process and career experience of international students in Korea. We suggest establishing a systematic career development system from a whole-life perspective on career development.
