[논문 초록]

이 글의 목적은 외국인의 사증 발급 및 체류자격 변경 시 필수 요건인 한국어능력 입증 서류에 관해면밀히 살펴보고, 그 문제점을 파악하여 외국인 유학생의 관점에서 한국 정주 체류를 위한 한국어능력입증 방안을 제안하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 “사증발급 안내매뉴얼”과 “외국인체류 안내매뉴얼”에 기술된한국어능력 입증 서류를 체류자격별로 제시하면서 TOPIK과 KIIP를 비교·분석해 본다. 이러한 비교 분석을 바탕으로 이 글에서는 외국인 유학생의 한국 정주를 위한 실제성 있는 한국어능력 입증 방안으로첫째, 학업 성취와의 통합으로 한국어능력 입증. 둘째, 평가자의 추천서 제출로 한국어능력 입증. 셋째, 실제 대화 또는 인터뷰로 한국어능력 입증. 넷째, 문화 활동 및 봉사 경험을 토대로 한 한국어능력 입증을 제안한다.
