[국내자료/학술지] 윤갑정. 2019. 국내 외국인 유학생의 대학생활 의례를 통한 학습경험과 다문화강점

[초록]

본 연구는 국내 유학생의 대학생활 적응을 의례를 통한 문화적 학습으로 보고, 유학생의 의례적 학습경험과 이를 위한 다문화강점을 도출하기 위한 것이다. 연구 참여자는 지역대학에 재학 중인 말레이시아 유학생 4명과 중국 유학생 3명으로, 2018년 2학기에 긍정탐색에 기초한 두 차례의 FGI를 통해 자료가 수집되었다. 자료 분석은 대학생활 의례를 통한 학습경험과 이를 위한 다문화강점으로 나누어 일반적인 질적 자료 분석절차에 따라 분석되었다. 연구결과, 첫째, 대학생활 의례를 통한 학습경험은 ‘신기하고 재미있는 대학문화’, ‘나이가 중요한 인간관계’, ‘여대생의 뷰티문화’이었다. 둘째, 대학생활 의례적 학습을 위한 다문화강점은 ‘한국문화에 대한 강한 호기심과 학구열’, ‘빠른 언어습득 능력’, ‘성장을 위한 도전적 태도’이었다. 본 연구결과를 통해 유학생의 대학생활 적응을 위한 대학생활 의례와 다문화강점의 중요성 및 다문화강점을 활용한 유학생 적응프로그램 개발에 대해 논의하였다.

This study attempts to figure out the learning experiences and multicultural strengths of international students through school rituals at a university in South Korea. This study approach consider adaptation of international students as a culture learning through school ritual experiences and using their strengths during the learning process. The participants were 7 females international students, who 4 students from Malaysia and 3 students from China. Data were collected through two times focus group interviews based on appreciative Inquiry for second semester, 2018. Data analysis was content-analyzed in terms of ritual learning experiences during university life and using their multicultural strengths through the process based on general qualitative research analysis process. The findings were as follows: 1) the learning experiences through rituals of university life were ‘amazing and funny school culture’, ‘human relationships based on age’, and ‘beauty culture of female students’ 2) the multicultural strengths were ‘strong curiosity and passion of learning about Korean culture’, ‘rapid language learning ability’, and ‘challengeable attitude for their development’. This results presented that roles of school rituals and using multicultural strengths for international student’s adaptation. Therefore, this research has leaded discussion multicultural strengths programs for international students’ adaptation.
