[국내자료/학술지] 남순현. 2021. 중국인인가? 유학생인가? 중국유학생의 민족정체성이 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향: 문화적응전략과 문화적응스트레스의 매개효과

[ 초록 ] 

본 연구의 목적은 한국에서 공부하는 중국유학생의 한국 유학생활의 적응을 돕기 위해, 중국유학생을 대상으로 민족정체성이 학교생활적응에 영향을 미칠 때, 문화적응전략과 문화적응스트레스의 매개효과를 살펴보는 것이다. 본 연구는 2019년 2월부터 2019년 5월까지 대학강사, 중국유학생연합회, 국제어학원, 재한유학생과 한국 대학생의 도움을 받아 중국유학생 404명을 유목적 편의표집하였다. AMOS 통계프로그램 22.0을 활용하여 통제변인을 통제한 구조방정식 모형을 검증한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중국유학생의 민족정체성은 문화적응전략, 즉 고국문화유지와 한국문화수용에 유의한 정적 영향을 미쳤고, 학교생활적응에 유의한 정적영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 중국유학생의 문화적응전략 중 한국문화수용만이 문화적응스트레스에 유의한 부적 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 중국유학생의 한국문화수용전략과 문화적응스트레스는 학교생활적응에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 마지막으로, 중국유학생의 민족정체성이 학교생활적응에 영향을 미칠 때, 한국문화수용과 문화적응스트레스는 유의한 매개효과를 보였다. 또한, 중국유학생의 민족정체성이 문화적응스트레스에 영향을 미칠 때, 한국문화수용전략은 완전매개효과를 보였다. 따라서 본 연구는 중국유학생의 학교생활적응에 영향을 미치는 과정을 살펴보았다는 점에서 그 의의가 크며, 최근 대학 내 다문화상담이 강조되고 있는 시점에서 중요성이 크다.

This study investigated the mediating effects of acculturation strategies and acculturative stress when ethnic identity influences Chinese students’ adaptation to university life in South Korea. Participants were 404 Chinese students identified through purposive sampling from February 2019 to May 2019. The results indicated that ethnic identity and acculturation strategies positively affected Chinese students’ adaptation to university life. Acceptance of Korean culture only had a significant effect on acculturative stress. The use of strategies for facilitating acceptance of Korean culture and dealing with acculturative stress positively affected Chinese students’ adaptation to university life. When ethnic identity and acculturation affected Chinese students’ adaptation, strategies for facilitating acceptance of Korean culture and acculturative stress had a significant mediating effect. This study suggests that ethnic identity and acculturation strategies are important for adaptation to university life among chinese students. Theses findings can used to inform multicultural counseling practices.
