The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of Chinese students' participation in sports activities on stress coping style and anxiety. The participants were 458 Chinese students studying in H University. The collected data were processed using SPSS 26.0 version statistical program for frequency analysis, reliability analysis, exploratory factor analysis, T-test, ANOVA, post-hoc test and multiple regression analysis, and could get the result as follows: First, according to its demographic characteristics, the stress coping style of Chinese international students differed significantly in gender and grade, while anxiety did not show significant differences. Second, Chinese students who participated in sports activities had higher average scores for stress coping style and lower average scores for anxiety than students who do not participate in sports activities. Third, there is a positive correlation between the degree of participation in sports activities and stress coping style, and a negative correlation between it and anxiety. Fourth, stress coping style and anxiety was influenced by participation in sports activities as follows: participation frequency had significant influence on problem-focused coping and seeking social support coping, as well as state anxiety and trait anxiety, and participation period did so on wishful thinking coping and emotion-focused coping could newly be inserted into it.
