본 연구는 한국에서 유학 중인 외국인 유학생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 자기효능감, 사회적 지지요인, 전공 몰입도와 학업지속의도간의 영향 관계에 대해 연구를 진행하였다. 국내 학령인구 감소 및 외국인 유학생이 16만 명을 넘어선 시기에 중도탈락과 학업중단 사례는 간과할 수 없는 사안이며, 외국인 유학생은 성인학습자의 공통적인 특성을 포함하는 동시에 특수성을 가진 집단으로서 이들의 학업 지속에 관한 연구의 필요성은 충분하다. 이에 따라 본 연구는 선행연구를 바탕으로 자기효능감과 사회적 지지요인, 전공 몰입도, 학업지속의도에 관한 온라인 설문을 제작하여 206부를 수집하였으며, 각 요인의 상관관계 및 영향을 미치는 구조를 분석하였다. AMOS 프로그램을 활용하여 구조방정식 모형을 따라 가설을 검증하였으며 그 결과, 사회적 지지요인을 제외한 3개의 요인이 학업지속의도에 직접적으로 유의미한 영향을 끼치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 전공 몰입도는 자기효능감과 사회적 지지요인의 매개효과로 작용하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 연구의 결과로서 차후 대학에서 고려할 요인이 무엇인지 파악할 수 있으며 외국인 유학생들의 학업지속의도에 미치는 영향관계를 따라 지속 가능한 전략을 고려할 수 있음을 제안하고자 한다.
The study surveyed International students studying in Korea and examined the factors
affecting their academic persistence. The number of school-age students in Korea is
decreasing, and the number of International students has exceeded 160,000. At this time, the
case of international students' withdrawal and suspension of study is an issue that cannot be
overlooked. International students include the general characteristics of adult learners in
Korea. Also, It is a group of specialties at the same time. Therefore, the need for research
on their academic persistence is sufficient. Accordingly, based on prior research, this study
collected 206 copies of the online survey on self-efficacy and social support, major
commitment, and academic persistence, and analyzed the correlation and structure of each
factor. Using the AMOS program, hypotheses were verified according to the structural
equation model, and the results showed that 3 factors, excluding social support factors,
directly had a significant impact on academic persistence. In addition, the degree of major
commitment could be found to act as a mediation effect of self-efficacy and social support.
As a result of these studies, we suggest that the factors to be considered in future
universities can be identified and that sustainable strategies can be considered according to
the impact on the academic persistence of International student.
