본 연구는 사회복지학을 전공하는 베트남 유학생들의 학업 경험을 분석하는 것이다. 연구방법은 내러티브 탐구방법을 활용하였으며, 질적 자료 수집을 위해 경남 소재 C대학교 사회복지학과 4학년에 재학 중인 베트남 유학생 4명을 대상으로 하였다. 분석결과는 학업경험에 대한 의미로 <친숙한 기회의 땅, 한국행>, <정복할 수 없는 산, 학업>, <학교 밖 사회복지세계>, <베트남에서는 분명할 블루오션(blue ocean), 사회복지사>가 도출되었다. 베트남 유학생들은 자국에 좋은 이미지로 알려져 한국을 유학지로 선택하였으며, 학업경험 과정에서 가장 어려운 점은 한국어 구사가 능숙하지 못하다는 것이었다. 강의내용을 충분히 이해하지 못하거나, 과제 수행 등에 어려움을 겪었다. 또한 졸업을 위해 이수해야 하는 학점뿐만 아니라 졸업인증에 필요한 각종 비교과 활동에 대한 정보 획득도 어려웠다. 그러나 한국에 거주하면서 직?간접적으로 경험한 사회복지제도와 현장실습이 사회복지학문을 이해하는데 큰 도움이 되었으며, 졸업 후 가능하다면 한국에서 사회복지사로 취업하기를 원하였다. 미래 베트남으로 돌아가 사회복지분야의 선도적인 역할을 희망하기도 하였다. 본 연구를 통해 대학 차원의 유학생 관리 전략 및 사회복지학 교육측면에서의 실천적 제언을 하였다.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the academic experience of Vietnamese students majoring in
social welfare. To this end, in-depth interviews with four Vietnamese international students studying in the
4th grade of the Department of Social Welfare at C University in Kyungsang province were conducted
and the collected data were analyzed through a narrative research methodology. As a result of the analysis,
4 meanings of the academic experience were driven; ‘Going to Korea, Land of Opportunity’, ‘The
Unconquerable Mountain, Study’, ‘Social Welfare outside of the theory’, ‘Social Worker, blue ocean that
will definitely be in Vietnam’. Vietnamese international students chose Korea, which is well known in their
home country, as their study destination, and the most difficult point in the entire course of their
academic experience was that they were not fluent in Korean. Because of this, they did not fully
understand the contents of the lecture or that it was difficult to perform assignments. In addition, it was
difficult to obtain information on not only the credits required for graduation, but also various
non-subjective activities required for graduation certification. However, the social welfare system while living
in Korea and on-the-job training that they practiced helped them to understand social welfare studies, and
after graduation, hoped to get a job as a social worker in Korea if possible. After returning to Vietnam
in the future, they hoped for a leading role in the social welfare field. This study is meaningful in that it
can serve as a basis for attracting and managing foreign students majoring in social welfare at a time
when foreign students are increasing.
