[초록]
This study will focus on the foreign students studying the Korean language in Korea together with academic-purpose learners at the university-level, and attempt to help both the teaching and learning of the idioms required to communicate in Korean at an advanced level. The fluency of advanced-level Korean is required especially in international students learning the language for academic purposes. Due to the considerable number of Chinese and Japanese students learning Korean, we have compared their language with the Korean language. The purpose of this study is to analyze and compare the body idioms of the three countries through example sentences in order to examine the differences in idioms in each of the languages. It also aims to figure out if the Japanese and Chinese students’ learning process is interfered by their native language and seek improvements in situations whereby students from both countries are put in the same learning environment. For the purpose and aim of this study, idioms of each language were divided into five categories, These categories were studied to examine the forms and meanings of idioms used by each of the languages. As a result, it was found that in one instance, only the categorization of idioms between two languages was possible and not all three, due to the differences in various forms and meanings of each of the languages. Through this, in order to improve the students’ understanding and learning of idioms and to minimize confusion, it was found that education through dividing by language was desirable.
